head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SHHHNK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The child ducked beneath the blade instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Water erupted upward around him as he slid low through the flood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CRACK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hilt of his sword slammed into the soldier\u2019s ribs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Armor dented inward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man collapsed screaming into the rushing water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not after the royal purge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prince Vaelor\u2019s screamed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prince stumbled backward as the flood surged violently toward them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And through the climbed the ancient stone stairwell two steps at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The castle above had become chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Servants ran screaming through flooded hallways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guards carried wounded soldiers past shattered windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rain poured violently through cracks in the ceiling while thunder shook the entire fortress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The kingdom of Ashkar was falling apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And somewhere inside the collapsing palace\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the princess was trapped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The boy raced through the corridors silently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most people never even noticed him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just another dirty orphan running through disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But then\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">he reached the northern tower hallway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And froze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the hallway was completely flooded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ice-cold black water rushed violently through the corridor while broken pillars blocked the exits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the far end\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Princess Elira clung desperately to a crumbling balcony rail above the flood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She couldn\u2019t have been older than twelve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rain way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CRAAAAASH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stone shattered apart beneath her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She overhead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rain poured behind him while royal soldiers surrounded the chamber with crossbows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He looked down coldly at both children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was hoping the flood would kill you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Princess Elira stared upward in
